About the Event
Take a laughter break today as you explore the benefits and fun of Laughter Yoga. This practice, which can be found in laughter clubs around the world, was created in India 25 years ago by Dr. Madan Kataria and Madhuri Kataria, a yoga teacher. It's based on the premise that we don’t need jokes or humor to enjoy the health benefits of laughter. In this session we'll laugh as an exercise aimed at releasing stress and boosting serotonin levels. No equipment is needed, and you can participate either sitting or standing. We'll start with a brief warmup, followed by a series of laughter prompts and breathing pauses, and finally a short meditation. A short Q&A will follow the session, in which we can talk about the uses of laughter yoga as a solo practice, as well as with others both in person and on zoom. A resource list will be provided.
The session will be facilitated by Kathy Riley, a retired teacher and certified laughter yoga leader. She is a long-time member of the Denver Laughter Club which meets weekly on zoom and, in good weather, in a local park.
Sessions begin Tuesday February 1st, and then every Monday following.
